The aim of the art workshop is to experiment with different styles of art in order to increase people's skills and confidence. People can use water colour, charcoal, pen and ink and pastels. They have also tried glass painting, mosaic and printing.

The sessions are facilitated by Pat Mountford, an experience art teacher who works freelance with a variety of excluded groups across the city.

People are able to work for a variety of art qualifications up to GCSE level.

In May 2005 the art group put on a large public exhibition of their work in Manchester Cathedral to celebrate the Centre's 10th Anniversary. In 2006 we put on exhibitions at St.Annes Church, St. Annes Square and St. Paul's Church, Blackley.

Art work from the group was used to illustrate the Booth Centre Annual Report in 2004/5.

In September 2005 and again in 2006 the art group went on a residentail in the Peak District to enable them to experience landscape sketching and watercolour painting.

In 2006 the Art Group worked with a new artist Paul to create a traditional spanish “Bellin” or Bethlehem model, which was displayed in the Manchester Cathedral as their nativity.
