How was it?

These are some of the comments from people who have received help from the Booth Centre to access education and training elsewhere.

I regularly go to the music sessions at MERC. I enjoy it immensely and it gives me a chance to meet other people with similar interests and to practice singing. I particularly enjoy singing solos, I sing ballads, I would recommend the sessions at MERC to anyone to keep their minds busy in a structured but friendly atmosphere.

I have been working on the canal boats for more than a year. I enjoy it because I was brought up around boats. I worked on trawlers and on the docks. I think it is a worthwhile cause, preserving the traditions of wooden canal boats. I enjoy the company and meeting different people from all walks of life. I have been on some canal trips and worked in the boat yard restoring.

We've recently been working in Stalybridge, tryin to get funds for a boatyard and heritage centre. Chris, the man in charge, is a very happy go lucky fellow. He is very dedicated to what he is doing, very polite and understanding. He puts no pressure on you and you work at your own pace, come and go as you like. I enjoy the recycling trips. Everybody mucks in together. I also like the fact that we are doing something worthwhile.
