Matty

Kia ora

My name is Matt and I came on holiday from New Zealand eleven years ago and never left. One day I saw an advert in the Manchester Evening News asking for volunteers at a place called the Booth Centre, so I came along for a look. I have never really left since that happened over 8 years ago. Some people ask why? Well if you had enjoyed the experiences and met the amazing people I have over the years, you wouldn't need to ask. To watch people, some of whom have lived very hard and difficult lives, change, grow and express themselves, to see them put back into a community which has at times neglected them, to be part of the comeraderie and creativity which belongs to the Centre and the people who use it, what could be better?

And as for the future. Well it is always necessary to change and evolve. Sometimes this may mean moving on. However I am very fortunate to be a part of a project that continually changes and evolves to reflect the people who use it; their personalities, needs, skills and abilities. All I can say is “long may this continue.”
